She will be laid to rest in the Carrington Cemetery, Carrington, ND. LaVonne joined her Savior in Heaven on October 24, 2017 , where she will dance in the arms of Jesus forever.

LaVonne Ellen Pierson was born to Algot and Leona (Silkey) Pierson on October 16, 1931 in Carrington, ND. During her high school years, she was a member of the tumbling team, even performing in Bismarck. Following her graduation from Carrington High School, she moved to Valley City and attended Valley City State University. She began her career working at the Valley City Clinic, where she worked for 25 years. In 1977, she became the deputy recorder for Barnes County. In 1983, LaVonne was elected Barnes County Recorder. She retired on December 31, 2002. LaVonne was very proud to have played an instrumental part in the Court House Patio Brick Project.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, WELCA, and played a very active role in Altar Guild. She belonged to the Auxiliaries of the Eagles and Elks in Valley City, as well as the ND County Recorders Association. She loved history and was a volunteer at the Barnes County Museum.

When she wasn’t decorating for an upcoming holiday, she filled her free time with gardening, playing Bingo, dancing, and playing cards. Her game of choice was Bridge, having played for over 40 years. She was a woman on the move, always doing something or going somewhere, but she always had time for her family.

Those family that are left behind to cherish her memory are her children: Cindy Bohnsack (Jeff), Vicki Zinck Metcalf (Mike), Patty Myers, Mike Zinck (Laurel) and JoAnn Adams (Clay); grandchildren: Matt Myers (Diedra), Jenna Martin, Ian and Kira Zinck, Stephen Adams (Teresa), and Angela Adams (Brandon); and great-grandchildren: Kaydense and Tucker Adams. She also leaves her brother, Gerald Pierson (Harriet) and sisters, Ivadell Welsh and Jean Ann Carlisle (Sonny); along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She joins her parents, Al and Leona; brother-in-law, Bill Welsh; and nephew, Paul Pierson in Heaven, where they know that for us, the best is yet to come.
