“Pat” Jean Langemo, age 87, a longtime Valley City resident, passed away at Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City ND, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, on October 25, 2017. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends. A memorial service will be held 2 pm at Congregational United Church of Christ on Friday, November 3. Visitation will be held at the church one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be at Memory Gardens.

She was born June 9, 1930 at the family farm in Getchell Prairie Township to H.E. “Bill” and Harriet Keene, the oldest of 4 children. She attended grade school at Getchell Prairie School and graduated from Valley City High School. She was a lifetime member of the Congregational Church, sang in the choir and held many positions in the church and in her later years compiled a history scrapbook for the church.

Pat married Leonard Albert Zaun on July 3, 1949 in Circle, Montana. Leonard passed away from multiple sclerosis. On September 18, 1976 Pat married Gerald Milton Langemo. The blended family included Pat’s 3 sons, (Wyatt, Darek, and Timothy) and 2 daughters (Lennell and Kristin) and Jerry’s daughter (Susan) and son (Scott). She was employed as a legal secretary during most of her work career and worked for attorneys L.T. Sproul, Roy Ployhar, John Thorson, Roger Weisenburger as well as states attorney Robin Huseby. Her hobbies over the years included her flower garden, genealogy, scrapbooking, folk art painting, and especially quilting. She made over 500 quilts of various sizes and taught quilting classes. She was instrumental in getting the mural painted opposite City Park on the Main Street retaining wall. Pat was a co-founder of the VC Community Theater and was also a member of Sheyenne Valley Riding Club, Valley Square Dancers, Bridges Arts Council, Friends of the Library, Historical Society, Valley Quilters and PEO. Pat also volunteered at the Barnes County Museum.

Pat is survived by her children Wyatt (Julie) Zaun of Valley City, Darek Zaun of Minot, ND, Lennell (Steve) Guertin of Valley City, Kristin (Neil) Swenson of Omaha, NE, Susan (Todd) McDowell of Jamestown, ND, and Scott (Staci) Langemo of Mandan, ND. She has 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Thomas Keene and Terrance Keene, her sister Gail Bailey, her first husband Leonard, and son Timothy Zaun.

She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
