N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High volleyball won the first set in the West Region championship and couldn’t hold on. Century won a 3-1 decision (20-25, 25-14, 25-18, 25-20) to claim another title.

The Jays dominated the first and set and the first 10 points on the second, before the Patriots woke up. They rolled on a 22-7 run after Jamestown jumped out 7-3.

In the third set, Jamestown lead 15-9 and West Region senior athlete of the year Megan Gaffaney left to get medical attention after hitting her head on Olivia Nihill’s knee. The Pats rolled after that.

Gaffaney returned a few points into the fourth set, but the momentum was all Century’s. She along with Courtney Peterson, Hannah Schiele, and McKayla Kurtz were all named all-WDA performers.

Jamestown will play Davies in the opening round of the state tournament on Thursday at 3pm.
