Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—–Carrington won 8 of 14 matches, 5 by way of pin and defeated the Oakes Tornadoes 40-36 in class B wrestling. All six of the Tornado wins were won by pin. The Cardinals picked up pins at 106 (Treston Lura), 113 (Brecken Lura), 170 (Beau Retzlaff), 182 (Brady Davis), and 220 (Colton Buskness). Lucas Geiszler (138) won a major decision over Bracken Awender. Zach Broadwell and Austin Hendrickson won decisions in the other Cardinal victories.
Oakes picked up pins at 120 (John German), 126 (Austin Burgard), 132 (Coy Awender), 160 (Logan Sell), 195 (Gabe Quandt), and 285 (Hunter Greenmyer).
Carrington was leading in the match 34-30 when Colton Buskness (220) won by fall giving the Cards a 40-30 lead securing the victory before the final match. The Cardinals (1-0), will travel to Hillsboro-CV next Tuesday. The Tornadoes, fall to 0-1 to start the year.
