D.C. (NewsDakota.com) – Senator Heidi Heitkamp has come forward stating her displeasure with the senate passing the Tax Reform Bill.

According to Senator Heitkamp, the Senate Republican tax reform bill will “explode our country’s debt”, adding nearly $1.5 trillion on the nation’s deficit. She explains that the reform may be positive for some in North Dakota, but may be detrimental to others.

Senator Heitkamp says Jamestown may also be facing some negative impacts in the future due to the Reform Bill. Some of them include cutting student loan assistance, slashing Essential Air Service, which invests around $2.8 million each year in Jamestown, and eliminates federal oil, gas, and coal payments to states.

If North Dakotans want to express their concerns with the bill, Senator Heitkamp encourages them to make their voices heard.
