Streetscape Public Input Meeting (Video)

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – About 50 people attended a public input meeting to discuss proposed Streetscape renovations along Central Avenue in Valley City from Main Street to 5th Street north on December 11th.

Chad Peterson of KLJ engineering gave a presentation and led the discussion about the proposed $1.5 million project. City Administrator David Schelkoph said public input is important for a project like this being it affects the city and business owners into the future.

Valley City was one of 12 cities selected for Governor Burgum’s Main Street Initiative which focuses on revitalizing downtown business districts.

Under the proposal, 80 percent of the project will be paid for by the state via of federal Department of Transportation funds, with 20 percent covered by the city. City officials say there will be no special assessments for downtown business owners. The estimated cost is $1.5 million.
