N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – North Dakota State shot 70 percent from the field and hit the century mark in a 101-58 win over Valley City State in men’s basketball Tuesday night at the Scheels Center in Fargo.

The Bison hit on 40 of 57 shots for 70.2 percent which is the second best shooting percentage in school history. They just missed beating the old record of 70.5 percent which was set in January of 1987 versus Minnesota State-Mankato.

Sophomore Deng Geu led the Bison with 18 points and seven rebounds. Freshman Rocky Kreuser added 17 points. Three other Bison were in double figures. Paul Miller, Jared Samuelson and Tyson Ward all had 11. Ward added six rebounds, a team high four assists and two blocks.

Senior Jayden Ferguson led the Vikings with 15 points. Austin Dunbar had 14 points and a team high six rebounds.

The Bison won the battle in the paint, outscoring VCSU 64-31. And the scoring was split for North Dakota State with the bench scoring 51 points and the starters 50.

The game was an exhibition game for Valley City State who will take a 4-9 overall record and 0-3 in the NSAA into this weekend’s conference action. The 18th ranked University of Jamestown Jimmies come to the W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse for a doubleheader. The women play at 5:30 and the men at 7:30. The women’s game will be a battle of top 20 teams, the University of Jamestown in 6th in the latest poll while the Vikings are 19th.
