(NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High basketball teams played their first WDA games of the season Tuesday night in the Captial City. The girls lost a 66-63 heartbreaker and the boys fell 65-42.

GBB: Bismarck 66, Jamestown 63

Courtney Peterson’s triple with 30 seconds left tied the game at 63. But Cadee Ryckman broke the tie as the buzzer sounded to give the Demons a three-point win.

No team led by my more than nine. The Jays built a seven point lead in the final few minutes of the half, but Bismarck scores the final nine to take a 28-26 lead into the break.

Jamestown never led again. The Demons pushes their lead to nine before the Jays rallied back for the tie.

Peterson paced the Jays with 18. Megan Gaffaney had 17.

BBB: Bismarck 65, Jamestown 42

A late first half run by the Demons opened their halftime lead to 14 and they were able to keep the Jays down 17-21 most of the second half. Seemingly every time Jamestown made a small runs Bismarck had the answers.

Mason Walters’ 20 was the Jays leading scorer. He scored the team’s first nine.

Jamestown had no answer for Joe Jahner who dropped in 25.

The Jays are right back to action on Thursday when they host St. Mary’s
