VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCSUVikings.com) – The Valley City State men’s basketball team ended its four-game conference losing streak Saturday, earning its first NSAA win of the season with a 78-65 victory over Presentation College.

The Vikings led the final 27 minutes of the game, taking the lead for good at 23-22 on Jouvon Edison’s basket inside with 6:54 left in the first half. Edison’s bucket sparked a 13-5 run to end the first half as the Vikings led 34-27 at the break and never trailed in the second half. VCSU put the game away for good with a 7-0 spurt late in the game, turning a six-point game into a 70-57 lead with 2:42 to go.

Valley City State improves to 5-10 overall and 1-4 in the NSAA. Presentation College drops to 6-8 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

One night after going 5-for-5 from 3-point range, Viking guard Rashad Satahoowent 6-for-10 from deep as he poured in 20 points. Satahoo reached 1,000 points for his Viking career, finishing the night with 1,005 career points. He is the 18th Viking in program history to reach 1,000 career points.

Jayden Ferguson led the Vikings in scoring with 23 points. Austin Dunbar posted another double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, and Jouvon Edison scored 12 points off the bench. Freshman guard Jake Skellycame off the bench to score eight points and dish out a game-high eight assists.

Julius Jackson poured in a game-high 34 points to lead Presentation College. Jalen Johnson added nine points off the bench for the Saints.

Valley City State shot 48 percent from the field (29-60), including a 54 percent performance in the second half. The Vikings lit it up from deep, going 10-for-19 from 3-point range (53 percent). VCSU went 10-for-14 on free throws.

Presentation College shot 37 percent overall (23-62), 17 percent from 3-point range (4-23) and 94 percent at the line (15-16).
