N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  The Cardinals travelled to the Minot Auditorium on Friday afternoon for the 2017 Boys’ Basketball Hoopster Classic for a non-region matchup.  The Lakers of Des Lacs-Burlington upset the number seven rated Carrington Cardinals by 10 points, 79-69.  Carrington drops to 3-2 overall, DLB improves to 3-3.

The first half was back and forth, the score was tied at 13 at the end of the first quarter and 25 at the halftime break.  But DLB had a big third quarter, scoring 27 points to take the 52-44 lead.  Eddie White Bear had 13 of his 17 total points in the third.  Four players scored in double figures for the Lakers, Senior Arron Grandy led all scorers with 27 points, including five 3-pointers. Josh Knutson and White Bear had 17 each and Dante Gunville added 11.  For Carrington, Senior Garrett Bickett had 23 and Sophomore Seth Nelson had 22, including three 3-pointers.

Next up for Carrington will be in Jamestown for the Stutsman County Boys Basketball Tourney at the Civic Center.  The three day tourney will run January 4th, 5th & 6th, 2018.
