(NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown JAWS Swim Club had a strong season opener against 11 other teams in Grand Forks on Saturday Dec 9th.

Leading the wave of top finishes is Andrew Olson with two 1st place finishes in the 100 free and 50 free, and a quick second in the 25 back.

Veteran team member Chea Baugh pulled out first place finishes in the 100 back and 500 free, and a pair of 2nd ‘s in the 200 back and the 100 IM. Catherine Deaver had a very strong day with two second place finishes in the 100 IM and 500 free. The
trio of Larson sisters, Alexis, Allysah and Jordyn performed successfully by bringing in a 3rd and 5th places in their respective age brackets. Cruz Kaiser taking a fast 2nd in the 500 free.

The Jaws Team jumped the border to take on 6 other Teams in the Moorhead Marlins Invitational on December 17th. Bodi Haglund topped the leader board for the Jaws Swim Team with 4 first place finishes. Catherine Deaver ended the day with 3 first place finishes, and Chea Baugh also contributed 3 first place finishes as well as three second place finishes.

Brothers Nicholas and Andrew Olson continue to be a strong alias as they posted their personal best times in many of their events including Nicholas’ 1st place standing in the 100 IM and 50 back. Corinne Schmidt dropped her best times to be a standout in the 50 free and the 500 free. These athlete’s performances helped propel the team to an overall second place team finish.

“The Team is looking strong this season and with many new members joining the Club this year, and only 2 swim meets under our belts, we already have nine swimmers qualified for the State Swim Meet in March. We are shaping up to be a dominant force in the pool state wide.” says Coach Jill Schlenker.

The Jaws swim team will be in action again when they cross the border to Aberdeen, South Dakota on January 6th and 7th.
