N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County Commision has been without an official auditor since Casey Bradley resigned, leaving Nicole Meland in an interim position.

On January 2nd, the commission moved forward with the hiring process to find a new auditor. County Commissioner Dennis Ova moved to hire the position externally, which was approved. County Chairman Mark Klose pointed out that he didn’t want to prolong the hiring process, recommending the minimum 10 days be used to find someone for the job.

Commissioner Dale Marks said it didn’t matter how long it took, it just needed to be done. Interim Auditor Nicole Meland informed the county that they could publish the job opening on ICMA, which was originally used when the county hired Bradley.

The county then discussed creating a committee to review applications. It was suggested that commissioners Mark Klose and Dale Schwartz along with Emergency Manager Jerry Bergquist and Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser comprise the proposed committee. Klose stated the committee would be used to help publicize the job opening and the commission would still be in charge of hiring.

The commission unanimously approved the create the committee.
