N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – When it comes to saving lives, there’s no competition between the Jamestown Fire Department and Jamestown Police Department.

Except for saving lives through blood donation.

The 3rd Annual Battle of the Badges is a competition between the Jamestown Fire Department and Jamestown Police Department to see who can collect the most blood through United Blood Services.

Jamestown Fire Chief Jim Reuther says the goal is to have 250 donors, who will subsequently be given a free blood drive T-shirt. The blood drive goes from 11:30 AM to 6 PM today, 11:30 AM to 5:30 PM on January 5th and 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM January 6th.

The event is being held at the Exchequer Room in the Jamestown Civic Center. There are roughly 90 spaces available today, 75 open Friday and 35 open Saturday.

“There is always a need for blood and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community,” states Weldon Robets, Donor Recruitment Representative. “Please consider helping United Blood Services keep blood on the shelves on 68 area hospitals in the Dakotas region this holiday season.”
