Lois Aase, age 79, of Valley City, ND, died Friday, January 5th at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 11th at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Valley City. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Lerud Schuldt Mathias Funeral Home Chapel and one hour before the service at the church on Thursday morning. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery near Valley City in the spring.

Lois Elaine Knutson, the daughter of Thorvald and Helga (Andreasen) Knutson, was born February 22, 1938 on the family farm near Marion, ND by a midwife. Lois grew up on the family farm northwest of Litchville and attended school at Rosebud #72 and Svea rural schools. In 1956, after receiving her education, she moved to Valley City. Lois started working at F.W. Woolworth department store and worked there for 10 years. On November 19, 1960 she married Vernon E. Aase at First Lutheran Church in Valley City. She then began working at Drugan’s Super Valu and continued through the store name changes to J&L and Leevers. Lois retired after working for the store for 37 years. In her retirement she enjoyed going with her husband to flea markets, threshing shows and working on crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, and playing cards. Lois was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and the Am Vets Ladies Auxiliary.

Lois is survived by her husband Vernon, her brother Don Knutson, two sisters-in-law, Doris Aas and Gloria Knutson, all Valley City, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Arlen.
