N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  In the first District V contest of the season for both teams on Tuesday night, the Cardinals led by only three points at the end of the first quarter, 17-14, but would outscore the Mustangs 57-20 in the next three quarters to get the victory, 74-34.   Midkota was held scoreless the entire fourth quarter.  Carrington improves to 1-0 and 7-2 overall, Midkota drops to 0-1 and 2-4 overall.

The Cardinals shot 53% from the field and 84% from the charity stripe.  The Mustangs had 12 turnovers, Carrington just two.  Leading the way for Carrington was Senior Point Guard Garrett Bickett with 25 points, Senior Kolton Vetter added 17 and Junior Trey Rosenau had 10 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals.  Leading the way for Midkota was Mason Smith with 12 points and Drew Utke added 11.  Both Utke and Smith had seven rebounds each as well.

Next up for Carrington will be a boys and girls double header on Friday, January 12th at Carrington High School.  Boys JV starts at 3:30pm, then Girls JV around 5pm, Girls Varsity about 6:30pm and Boys Varsity about 8pm.  Both varsity games can be heard on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com starting about 6:15pm pregame.  Midkota travels to Ellendale on Friday.
