N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Garret Browning scored a shorthanded goal midway through the second period, which proved to be the game winner, as the University of Jamestown beat Arizona State 5-2 in men’s hockey Thursday night at the John L.  Wilson Arena.

The goal came 2:37 after Cole McKechney had given the Jimmies a 2-1 lead with his fifth goal of the season. Sun Devil netminder Tyler Martz came out to try and clear the puck, when it hopped over his stick Browning was there to score the easy goal.

Jamestown would add two more goals in the third period. Phoenix McElroyScott and Graeme Close would score in the final period.

Jeremy McNeil would give the Jimmies the early lead with a goal 32 seconds into the game. But ASU would tie it with a power play goal with 2:30 left in the period.

Jagr Larson capped the scoring with a late goal when each team was playing with three skaters after an altercation put two players from each team in the penalty box.

With the win, Jamestown is 12-12 on the year and have won three in a row. They host UNLV Friday and Saturday nights. Both games begin at 7pm.
