N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Fire Department has been increasingly busy for the first two weeks of 2018.

Jamestown Fire Chief Jim Reuther’s latest report found that in 2017, there were 289 total calls for service. That’s just one less compared to their 2016 numbers. According to the latest report, it’s been a busy start to 2018.

The department has responded to 15 calls since the beginning of the year. You can find the calls, descriptions and times through January 10th below:

Call No. 1 January 1st, 12:20AM, fire department responded to 500 Block of 17th St SW, to a report of a grass fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire and investigated. Cause-fireworks. No injuries reported. Time out 25 minutes.

Call No. 2 January 1st, 7:58PM, ready squad responded to 2605 Circle Drive, NDSH-Lahaug Building, to investigate fire alarm activation. Firefighters checked for smoke/fire none was detected. Cause-burnt food. Fire alarm was reset. Time out 35 minutes.

Call No. 3 January 2nd, 12:16AM, ready squad responded to 5855 3rd St SE, Cavendish Farms, to investigate fire alarm activation. Cause-sensor in fryer activated the fire alarm. Fire alarm was reset.

Call No. 4 January 3rd, 8:55AM, ready squad responded to 600 20th St SW, Valley Plains Equipment, to investigate a fire that occurred in a semi-truck and was extinguished by employees. Firefighters checked the semi-truck to make sure the fire was out. No injuries reported. Cause-undetermined. Time out 25 minutes.

Call No. 5 January 3rd, 1:37PM, fire department responded to 12th Ave and 2nd Place NE, to a report of a fire. Fire was out upon arrival of fire units, firefighters investigated. Cause-brake failure on vehicle. No injuries reported. Time out 20 minutes.

Call No. 6 January 4th, 8:06AM, fire department responded to the area of 11th Ave and 1700 Block NE, to a report of a fire. Firefighters checked the area and found no fire. Cause-unknown. No injuries reported. Time out 30 minutes.

Call No. 7 January 5th, 10:31AM, ready squad responded to 1400 10th Ave NE, Multi Family Dwelling, to investigate fire alarm activation. Firefighters checked for smoke/fire none was detected. Cause-accidental alarm activation. Fire alarm was reset. Time out 25 minutes.

Call No. 8 January 5th, 4:27PM, ready squad responded to 116 1st St East, Stutsman County Social Services, to investigate fire alarm activation. Firefighters checked for smoke/fire none was detected. Cause-smoke from the deep fryers in the Vet’s Club activated the alarm. Fire alarm was reset. Time out 15 minutes.

Call No. 9 January 6th, 12:10AM, ready squad responded to 219 5th Ave SE, Single Family Dwelling, to investigate fire alarm activation. Firefighters checked for smoke/fire none was detected. Cause-undetermined. fire alarm was reset. Time out 25 minutes.

Call No. 10 January 6th, 10:52AM, ready squad responded to 116 1st St East, Stutsman County Social Services, to investigate fire alarm activation. Firefighters checked for smoke/fire none was detected. Cause-smoke from the deep fryers in the Vet’s Club activated the alarm. Fire alarm was reset. Time out 25 minutes.

Call No. 11 January 6th, 10:10PM, ready squad responded to 1016 10th St SE, Coca Cola Building, to investigate sprinkler alarm activation. Firefighters checked the building for smoke/fire none was detected. Cause-broken sprinkler pipe. Water was turned off until repairs are made. Time out 35 minutes.

Call No. 12 January 7th, 10:38AM, ready squad responded to 2605 Circle Drive, NDSH-GM Building, to investigate sprinkle alarm activation. Firefighters checked for smoke/fire none was detected. Cause-accidental alarm activation. Alarm system was reset. Time out 30 minutes.

Call No. 13 January 7th, 10:13PM, ready squad responded to 930 25th St SW, Fairfield Inn, to check for carbon monoxide. Firefighters analyzed for carbon monoxide and 0 ppm was detected. Cause-faulty sensor. Time out 30 minutes.

Call No. 14 January 8th, 6:19PM, ready squad responded to 611 14th Ave SE, Single Family Dwelling, to investigate smoke alarm activation. Firefighters checked for smoke/fire none was detected. Cause-burnt food. Alarm was reset. Time out 15 minutes.
