JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The 4th Annual Denim and Diamonds Gala is set for January 20th in Jamestown.

The fundraiser has benefited the JakeStar organization, which was created in memory of Jacob Shockman, who passed away April 22nd, 2012.

“Our desire is to promote safety and accident prevention for children, support charitable organizations that reflect our vision, and to offer hope and healing by celebrating life in a unique and entertaining way,” the non-profit organization states.

Since being created, over $70,000 has been raised and donated to various organizations including North Dakota Parks and Rec, Kids Against Hunger, LaMoure Ambulance, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

A big announcement for this year’s Denim & Diamonds Gala is the keynote speaker, who has had a lot of experiences with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“Miss America Cara Mund serves as the National Goodwill Ambassador for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals; promotes her personal platform, A Make-A-Wish Passion with Fashion, supports military through USO visits and fundraising, encourages young people to be enthusiastic about education,” her bio states.

Miss Mund was crowned Miss America 2018 on September 10th, 2017. She was the first woman ever from North Dakota to win the title. The annual Denim & Diamonds Gala will be held January 20th at the Quality Inn & Suites in Jamestown.
