LA CROSSE, WIS. (VCSUVikings.com) – The Valley City State women’s basketball team won its 14th game of the season Saturday, conquering Viterbo University 77-51 on the road.

The Vikings led by just four points at halftime, 32-28, but poured in the first 12 points of the second half and outscored the V-Hawks 21-5 in the third quarter to break the game wide open.

Valley City State, ranked No. 19 in the country, improves to 14-3 overall and 6-2 in the North Star Athletic Association. The Vikings are in second place in the NSAA standings after the first round of conference play.

Viterbo University drops to 4-16 overall and 1-7 in the NSAA.

Senior guard Lexi Lennon led the Vikings with 20 points on 8-for-15 shooting. Kennedy Henningsgard went 5-for-8 from the field as she poured in 14 points, pulled down six rebounds and dished three assists. Alli Vandal added 13 points and seven rebounds for the Vikings. Mackenzie Huber racked up eight points and seven rebounds, and Kaitlin Connor had seven points and a team-high nine rebounds.

VCSU totaled 47 rebounds in the game, compared to just 30 for Viterbo.

The Vikings shot 52 percent overall (30-58), 25 percent on 3’s (2-8) and 71 percent at the line (15-21). Viterbo finished at just 29 percent overall (17-59), 19 percent on 3’s (4-21) and 65 percent on free throws (13-20).

Ambree Schlosser led the V-Hawks with nine points.
