Richard Stensgard, 79, died peacefully in his home on Friday, January 12, 2018.
Allen was born October 30, 1938 in Fargo, ND. He lived in Fingal for a short time before his parents bought the family farm outside of Nome, ND. He lived on the family farm until he married Barbara Schmidt January 12, 1962 in Fargo, ND. He then moved to Seattle, WA, where he worked for a paper factory until 1968. The family moved back to ND in September of 1968 where he worked various jobs until moving to Enderlin in 1969 where he worked at Lewis Trucking until December of 1971. He then began working for Bobcat. He worked for Bobcat until he retired in January of 2000.
Allen spent many happy hours attending family gatherings, telling jokes, eating cookies, and playing his favorite game, Yahtzee. Allen loved his family and always greeted them with a big smile and warm hug. No one was a stranger to him, as he welcomed everyone with smile. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Allen is survived by his wife, Barbara Stensgard, Valley City, ND; his children, Jeff, Epping, ND, Valerie, West Fargo, ND, Vicki, Valley City, ND, and Michael (Brenda), Enderlin, ND; his 12 grandchildren, Irlene, Randi (Jason), Kiel (Cyndi), Brandon (Kassandra), Brittany, Brooke (Josh), Amanda (Anthony), Miranda, Christopher, Stephanie, Ethan, and Evan; his 9 great-grandchildren, Taydyn, Tailynn, Rebel, Scott, Jace, Aubree, Blake, Autumn, and Willow; his brothers and sisters, Art, Jr., Nome, ND, Charles (LuAnn), Oriska, ND, James (Barbara), Imperial, CA, Harvey (Julie), San Leandro, CA, Beverly, Carson City, NV, and Carol, Fargo, ND; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Alice, brothers, Leonard and Jack, and three sisters, Betty Mary, Bette Lorraine, and Marie.
His funeral will be held at First Baptist Church, Valley City, ND at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2018.
