S.D. (VCSUVikings)-Presentation College hit three late 3’s Saturday afternoon as the Saints held off the VCSU men’s basketball team, 83-78 in Aberdeen.

Valley City State’s late rallies were stalled by Saints’ 3-pointers as three of Presentation College’s last four field goals came from beyond the arc.

The Vikings trailed 42-37 at halftime, but opened the second half with an 18-6 run to build a 55-48 lead with 13 minutes remaining. Presentation College scored the next seven points to tie the game and the teams went shot-for-shot down the stretch. The Saints hit 3-pointers with 5:14, 3:28 and 1:55 remaining to hold off VCSU runs. The final dagger came with 17 seconds left when Julius Jackson beat the shot clock with a deep 2-pointer to put the Saints up 79-75.

With the loss, Valley City State drops to 8-14 overall and 2-8 in the NSAA. Presentation College improves to 10-11 overall and 4-6 in the NSAA.

Jayden Ferguson led the Viking offense with 19 points Saturday. Rashad Satahoo knocked down three 3’s and finished with 15 points and three assists. Justyn Galloway had a near double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds, and Jake Skelly scored 10 points off the bench.

VCSU shot 49 percent in the game (27-55), 37 percent on 3’s (7-19) and 85 percent at the line (17-20). Presentation College finishes at 49 percent from the field (32-65), 38 percent on 3’s (9-24) and 83 percent at the line (10-12).

Six Saints players scored in double figures led by 15 points off the bench from Mychal Deas.

Up next: Valley City State plays a home game for the first time since Dec. 16 as they host Dakota State and Bellevue University on Jan. 26 and 27.
