Jo Nathan, 38, Valley City, North Dakota, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 after a short, courageous battle with cancer at Sanford on Broadway, Fargo, ND. Her family and friends were at her side when she left us to meet our Lord and Savior.

She was born to Brenda and Timothy Dooher on October 23, 1979 in Jamestown, North Dakota. She attended various schools due to family moves including; Voorhees, New Jersey, Park City, Utah, and Utica, New York, and graduated from Blaine (Minnesota) High School in 1998. Teresa attended and graduated from Valley City State University in December 2002, earning her degree in Business Administration. She married Chad Tangen in 2002.

She began working for Grotberg Electric, Valley City for five years and from there she began her career at Bank Forward. Teresa was an Administrative Assistant/Investment representative with Invest Forward since 2007.

Teresa was united in marriage to Jeff Nathan on October 22, 2016, in Bar Harbor, Maine. They enjoyed their new home in Valley City making memories with each other and Teresa’s children, Grace and Andrew. They also loved spending time at their lake cabin.

Teresa made friends wherever she lived. That skill showed through all the friends she had in her lifetime. Teresa loved to have fun with her family and friends, she was always ready to laugh and love. She enjoyed golf, quilting and cooking. The most important part of her life were her children and she looked forward to their activities. She was the consummate wife, mother, daughter and sister. She was always looking out for others before herself.

She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, a board member of CHI Mercy Health Foundation and a former past president of the Ed Board at St. Catherine School.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Robert and Bertha Grundstad and Thomas and Frances Dooher, and her friend Sam Noeske, who she is now looking out for.

Teresa is survived by her loving husband, Jeff; her children, Grace and Andrew Tangen; her parents, Timothy and Brenda Dooher, Detroit Lakes, MN; her sister, Brooke and Nadeem Chaudhary, Egan, MN; her nephews, Johnathon Braun and Zakariya Chaudhary and niece Mariya Chaudhary. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Valley City, Monday, January 22, 2018 from 4-7 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm. The funeral will be at the church on Tuesday, January 23, at 10:30 am. Internment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Valley City, in the spring. Memorials may be directed to Valley City State Foundation, where an endowment scholarship has been established.
