JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – American novelist and short story writer Louis L’Amour is widely considered one of the world’s most popular writers.

Now, Jamestown Tourism is working to highlight and commemorate the Jamestown native’s legacy.

Jamestown Tourism Executive Director Searle Swedlund and area historian Keith Norman are working on a project to do just that.

Swedlund says in L’Amour’s memoirs, he mentions the Alfred Dickey Library and its influence on him as an author. Swedlund pointed out that they are now trying to piece together a project dedicated to the legendary writer.

Norman stated that the L’Amour family’s connection to Jamestown is very extensive.

Currently, Norman and Swedlund are working to put together an exhibit that will show how important Jamestown was to L’Amour, but also how important L’Amour is to Jamestown.

The exhibit will be put together at the Alfred Dickey Library in Jamestown. Norman says individuals that artifacts, stories, lore or information involving the L’Amour family, it may be useful the the exhibit.
