JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown City Council heard an update from the Recycling Center of North Dakota concerning an update with curbside recycling.

Ralph Friebel with the Recycling Center of North Dakota reports that recycling carts will be delivered and assembled on March 5th this year. They will then be distributed shortly afterward.

“We’re also waiting on trucks,” Friebel told the council Tuesday. “They’re used trucks and we’re just waiting for them to get painted and delivered.”

Friebel says he expects the trucks to be here in the middle of March or sooner.

When asked about the process of acquiring the old Coca-Cola plant, Friebel said all seemed to be moving forward.

Friebel informed the council that they expect residential recycling pickup April 2nd. He says with the delivery of carts, they’ll have informational pamphlets and the routes and scheduling for the recycling pickup.

A letter was sent to Friebel in January, stating that the city would begin default proceedings February 1st if curbside recycling wasn’t implemented. Friebel would have 60 days from the date of the letter to either have recycling ready to go or the city would take legal action and begin looking for alternate options.
