VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- The postseason begins Wednesday for The Valley City State women’s basketball team. Through 16 North Star Athletic Association games The Vikings amassed a 13-3 mark to get the second seed and earn a first round home game. They will play the 7th seeded Viterbo University V-Hawks.

Last Friday the regular season ended for VCSU with a 87-59 win at Waldorf University to improve their overall record to 22-4 and helped them move up to No.16 in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll.

The Vikings, who are eyeing a return to the national tournament, have already enjoyed one of the most successful years in program history but coach Vanessa Keeler-Johnson says they haven’t taken much time to reflect on their regular season achievements

Viterbo was seeded 7th after going 3-13 in The NSAA. Although VCSU has won both meetings this year, 77-51 in LaCrosse on January 13th and 88-60 in Valley City on February 2nd, they have seen their struggles at times with The V-Hawks.

Coach Keeler-Johnson they know what to expect out of their opponent the 3rd time around

Wednesday night’s winner plays the winner of Presentation College and Bellevue University Saturday in the semifinals with the highest remaining seed the host.

Tip is scheduled for 7:00 at The WE Osmon Fieldhouse. Pregame starts around 6:45 on KOVC and NewsDakota.com
