CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Foster County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents to be on the lookout for a current scam hitting the area.

According to officials, a envelope postmarked from Portugal was received by a resident. In the letter, it informs the recipient that they have won the Mega Lottery and a payout of $4.5 million. It goes on to further say to begin claims, the recipient must contact a gentleman named Dr. Micheal Gold through telephone or e-mail and “fly to Lisbon Portugal to sign the funds release document and pick up your check.”

The Foster County Sheriff’s Department is telling residents not to fall for this scam. If you have received a similar flyer, contact the Sheriff’s Office immediately.
