MINOT, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) After seeing their 17 game winning streak end Friday night in the State Class B Semifinals in heartbreaking fashion, the Medina/Pingree-Buchanan girls basketball team ended the 2017-18 season with a win; taking third place Saturday evening with a 41-36 victory over Thompson.
MPB (24-3) lead for almost 30 minutes of the contest, including by as much as 14 in the opening seconds of the third. Thompson (22-5) worked their way back into the contest in the fourth quarter, including taking the lead with 3:29 left. Senior Halle Uehran delivered down the stretch, making four straight free throws to ensure the victory.
The Thunder’s head coach Brett Thielges, who was named Class B Girls Coach of The Year spoke beforehand on what the graduating class of 2018 players on his roster has meant to him.
Uehran had a team high 12 points. MacKenzie Hughes lead Thompson with a game high 16.
