JAMESTOWN, N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  After the first day of the 2018 Class B Region III Boys Basketball Tournament was postponed due to inclement weather, the tourney kicked off on Tuesday, March 6th at the Jamestown Civic Center.  Four games took place, with four teams moving into the semifinal round and four teams being eliminated.  Here are the results:

D5 #1 Carrington (6) 61  D6 #4 Kidder County 34

The sixth rated Cardinals improved to 20-2 overall and won their 17th straight game after defeating the Wolves of KC in the first game on Tuesday. The Cardinals have not lost in 2018, their last loss was December 29th, 2017 against Des Lacs-Burlington at the Hoopster Classic in Minot. On Tuesday night at the Region tourney, the first quarter was back and forth with five lead changes and one tie, but the Cardinals outscored KC 18-7 in the second quarter to take a 29-15 halftime lead.  Senior Garrett Bickett lead the way for Carrington with 25 points, including five 3-pointers.  Junior Trey Rosenau added 10 points and five rebounds.  Senior Jayden Shipman had five points and five steals.  For the Wolves, Junior Austin Schmidt had 19 points and six rebounds.  The Cardinals shot 54% from the field and hit seven 3-pointers.  The Wolves shot 32% from the field and committed 15 turnovers, they end their season at 11-11 overall.

D5 #3 Ellendale 62  D6 #2 Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter 58

Senior Lucas Hofer had 22 points, 10 rebounds and three steals to lead the Cardinals in a back-and-forth contest that featured eight lead changes and six ties. Hunter Thorpe added 17 and Austin Molan had 15 points for the Cardinals.  Junior Jamison Fettig netted 24 points for NGS.  The Imperials end their season at 11-12.

D5 #4 Lamoure/Litchville-Marion 53 D6 #1 Strasburg/Zeeland 41

L-L-M ended the game on a 14-5 run and Alex Klever and Shay Ness hit five of six free throws in the final 1:10 to seal the win for the Loboes. Ness led the Loboes with 19 points and three steals. Jamison Kramer had 15 points and a game high nine rebounds. Klever finished with nine points, six rebounds and six assists for L-L-M who improve to 16-7. Tanner Goebel led the Clippers with nine points. Strasburg-Zeeland ends the season 8-15.

D5 #2 Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier 64 D6 #3 Linton/HMB 53

Lane Hanson filled the stat sheet and the Rebels scored the first 10 points of the fourth quarter to break open a tie game for their tenth win in 12 games and 18th on the season. The senior led the Rebels with 27 points, 16 rebounds, six assists and five steals. Isaac Huber added 10 points. Lance Weisser led the Lions with 30 points and 13 rebounds. Linton/HMB ends the season at 8-14

Thursday’s schedule at the Jamestown Civic Center:

6pm – Carrington vs. Ellendale (semifinal)

20 minutes after – EKM vs. LLM (semifinal)

Both games will be broadcast on the Raven 103.1 FM and newsdakota.com starting about 5:45pm pregame.

Friday’s games will be held at the University of Jamestown’s Harold Newman Arena, starting at 6pm with the third place game, championship to follow, both games on the Raven.
