SIOUX CITY, IA (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown womens basketball team played one of its best defensive games of the season in the NAIA National Championships opening round with a 65-51 win over Cardinal Stritch.

The Wolves jumped out to a 7-4 lead and Jimmie senior Paige Emmel tied the game with a three and that was the last time Stritch led.

Jamestown kept the Wolves 13 percent below their season average shooting percentage and held senior point guard Maranda Huibretgse to only three points; she averages 14.

The first quarter the Jimmies jumped out to a 22-11 and extended it as far as 16 in the game. The Wolves cut it to eight in the final quarter, but a missed three followed by two and-ones for Jamestown, the game was over.

The Jimmies will play at 8:30am on Friday against Indiana Tech in the Round of 16.
