JAMESTOWN, N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  The 2018 Class B High School Region III Boys Basketball Tournament resumed on Thursday with two semifinal games at the Jamestown Civic Center. Originally, Thursday night was to be championship night, but inclement weather postponed the opening day on Monday, March 5th and everything was pushed back a day, so opening day was moved to Tuesday, March 6th. Here are the day two results:

Carrington 75  Ellendale 46

The sixth rated Cardinals jumped out early and had the lead 36-17 at halftime and never looked back as they move into the championship game for the second consecutive year.  Senior Point Guard Garrett Bickett led all scorers with 20 points, including four 3-pointers, fellow classmate Kolton Vetter added three more treys and ended the game with 18 points.  Jayden Shipman and Trey Rosenau had 10 each for the Cardinals. Junior Austin Molan led the way for Ellendale with 17 points, Sophomore Hunter Thorpe added five 3-pointers and ended with 15 points. Carrington has won 18 straight games and improved to 21-2, Ellendale drops to 17-7.

Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier 59  Lamoure/Litchville/Marion 50

Senior Lane Hanson had a double-double pouring in 23 points and grabbing 21 rebounds to help the Rebels move into the championship game for the second time in three years.  Junior Isaac Huber added 10 points and four assists.  Sophomor Jamison Kramer had 19 points for the Loboes and Shay Ness added 15 points and 10 rebounds.  There were a total of 41 fouls and 51 total free throws attempted in the contest, 32 free throws were made. The Rebels improve to 19-5, the Loboes drop to 16-8.

Friday’s schedule at the University of Jamestown’s Harold Newman Arena:

6pm – Ellendale vs. LLM (3rd place)

20 minutes after – No. 6 Carrington vs. EKM (championship)                                                (The winner of the championship game will advance to the State Class B Basketball Tourney in Bismarck running March 15th-17th)
