SIOUX CITY, IA (NewsDakota.com)- Its been a historic season for The VCSU Women’s basketball team so far.

They opened the year with a school record 10 straight victories, they have earned a record 25 wins and have taken home The North Star Championship. Making their 5th trip to The NAIA National Tournament, The Vikings aren’t ready to be done making history quite yet as they set their sights on the programs first win in Sioux City.

The regular accolades have put VCSU in a good position to make a run. As the No.14 team in the nation they were seeded 4th in The Duer bracket and will play the 5th seed St.Francis of The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

The Fighting Saints are making their 3rd straight national tournament appearance. They come in as an at-large team with a 20-9 record. Coach Vanessa Keeler-Johnson sees a lot of similarities between St. Francis and The University of Jamestown, who they beat in The NSAA title game

Game time is set for 1:45 Thursday. Pregame on KOVC and NewsDakota.com starts around 1:30. A win for VCSU puts them in a Friday night match up with either Alice Lloyd or College of The Ozarks.
