Edward Ronald McGough died peacefully in his home on March 19, 2018 after a very long courageous fight for many years. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 46 years, his caring children and energetic grandchildren.
Ed was born December 18th, 1950 in Fargo, ND at St. Lukes Hospital to Charles and Delores McGough. He lived in the Downer-Moorhead, MN area. In 1960 his family moved to Valley City, ND where he attended St. Kates School. In 1969 he attended City High and graduated in 1970. Fall of 1973 Ed went to Lake Region Junior College where he obtained his Drafting Degree. After graduation he started working for Melland Builders Jamestown, ND 1976-1980. August of 1980 he opened Ed’s Valley Lanes. In 1986 Ed started his long enjoyable journey of Barnes County Auditor and retired from office in 2011. The Eagles Club 2192 accepted him as a faithful member in 1982 which he remained until 2018.
Ed’s passion was his family. That was the most important thing to him. He enjoyed hunting and with his kids and grandkids. He would hunt anything with them deer, pheasant, turkey, even squirrel. He was a huge Garth Brooks fan as well. Ed was a very special man to a lot of people.
He is survived by his wife Darcy; his children Jasen (Kathy) McGough of Valley City, ND, Jarid (Sarah) McGough of Hibbing, MN, and Jolene Jewett of Valley City, ND; grandchildren Cole, Carson, Kody, Landen McGough, Cardar, Auston, Darci, and Blake Jewett; brothers Robert (Mary) McGough of Hopewell, VA, Patrick (Connie) McGough of Valley City, ND, Daniel (Leah) McGough of Valley City, ND, Randy McGough of Jamestown, ND and John McGough of Aster Park, FL; sister-in-law Joyce Mcgough of Littleton, Co; mother in law Helen Differding of Fargo, ND; brother-in-Law Darrell (Tony) Differding-Brom of Cathedral City, CA, Wayne (Deb) Differding of Fargo, ND, Larry (Sandi) Differding of Richfield, MN, Jeff (Shelly) Differding of Valley City, ND; sister-in-law Julie Storhoff of Valley City, ND, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Delores McGough, his brother Thomas McGough, father-in-law Francis Differding, nephew Shawn McGough, and niece Sarah Differding.
Celebration of life for Ed will be Friday March 23, 2018 2pm at St. Catherine’s Church, with Msgr Dennis Skonseng officiating. Following there will be a get together at the Eagles Aerie 2192 club.
Visitation will be 1 hour before the service begins.
