Lorraine Olson, 97, Valley City, ND passed away at Mercy Hospital in Valley City on March 26, 2018. The funeral service for Lorraine will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley City on Monday, April 2, 2018 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the service begins at the church on Monday.

Lorraine Kleingartner was born on January 1, 1921 in Gackle, ND to Ottilia (Kuhn) and Emmanuel Kleingartner.  Lorraine, the oldest of fourteen children, attended and graduated from school in Gackle.  She attended college in Valley City, ND and while teaching in a one room schoolhouse in Minnie Lake Township, met and eventually married, Archie Olson.

Archie and Lorraine were married on June 9, 1945 and farmed near Pillsbury, ND.  They raised and educated their six daughters, supporting them in their many endeavors.  Lorraine’s support usually had something to do with food.  She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and quilting.  Her hands were never idle.

Lorraine is survived by her six daughters, Carolyn (Rodney) Fischer, Karen (John) Zaffke, Kathy (Rick) Slama, Susan (Tom) Domingo, Jenine (Glen) Lysne, and Barbara Zerface.  She has 14 grandchildren, Fr. Benadict Fischer, Deanna (Bill) Froelich, Tony (Jen) Slama, Nick (Jenny) Slama, Melissa Slama, Tommy Domingo, Andy Domingo, Amy (Bryant) Kiland, Jill (Robert) Hebl, Kurt (Melissa) Lysne, Rachael (Ben) Hiam, Ryan (Kari) Zerface, and Ashley (Tyler) Braaten; 19 great grandchildren, Joseph and Otillia Froelich, Maggie and Wyatt Slama, Kolby, Tanner, and Makenna Kiland, Halli and Cole Hebl, Braden, Logan and Emma Lysne, Kayla, Blake and Sydney Hiam, Tian and Kellan Zerface, and Mason and Lauren Braaten.  She also leaves her sisters, Helen Slater, Ione Lynch, Dorothy (Ruben) Soruco and Darlene Lobenstein; brothers, Calvin, Fred (Lynda) and Archie (Dorothy); as well as many nieces and nephews along with her dear friend, Lorraine Baasch.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Archie; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Arnie Shannon; brother and sister-in-law, Gottfried “Doc” and Marlys Kleingartner; brother-in-law, Earl Slater; sister-in-law, Joyce Kleingartner; brothers, Arthur and Tommy; and infant twin brothers, Norman and Norbert.  She was also preceded by her son-in-law, Roger Zerface.
