VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- VCHS track and field didn’t have to worry to worry about the weather last Thursday when they competed in The Davies Indoor Meet held in Fargo. The girl’s and boy’s teams continued to build their momentum through the indoor season with strong performances in all events.

The Hi-Liners will be back in action next week at the EDC Indoor Championships on Friday, April 6th on the campus of North Dakota State University at the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Facility.

Girls

Congratulations goes to the 9th  grade girls relay team for setting a new Valley City record in the 4×200 relay. Relay members are Olivia Olson, Amber Bruyea, Jocey Kriewald, and Morgan Nelson.

The outstanding performer of the meet was Jocey Kriewald who competed in the 60 meter, 200 meter, and the 4×200 relay.  Jocey set a new personal record in the 60 meter and was the top girls 200 meter performer, and ran on the 4×200 which set a new Valley City 9th grade record.

VeVe Lee set a new personal record in her first performance of the season in the 55 meter which earned her an eighth place finish.

Avery Murray had an terrific performance in the 1600 meter and placed sixth overall.

Morgan Nelson continues to perform well in the field events with two new personal records in the High Jump and Long Jump.

Mikayla Wolla – Personal Record in the 400 Meter

Natalie Lemnus –  Personal Record in the Long Jump

Julianne McPartland – Personal Record in the Long Jump

Allysen Mathias – Top Long Jumper and tied personal record in the High Jump

Lindsey Noeske – First performance of the year and placed in the top 15 in the Shot Put

Boys

The boys 4×400 and 4×800 relays started the and ended the meet with exceptional performances. The boys 4×400 team of Luther Zeltinger, Austyn Thornton, Ezra Hanse, and Benton Murray placed eighth and the 4×800 team consisting of Luther Zeltinger, Ezra Hanse, Owen Plagens, and Buddy Scheer placed seventh.

Peyton Zaun was the boys top performer of the meet setting three personal records in the Triple Jump, Long Jump, and High Jump where he had a top ten finish.

Not to be out done was Luther Zeltinger who ran on the 4×400 and 4×800 relay teams who both placed in the top ten. Luther also set a new personal record in the 200 meter.

Benton Murray’s performance in the Pole Vault earned him a ninth place finish and Benton also ran the anchor leg for the 4×400 relay which placed eighth.
