JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High School atrium was full of girls and their fathers, grandfathers, uncles and brothers dressed to the nines for the annual fundraising dance.

The 7th Annual Father/Daughter/Grandfather Dance has been held the last 6 years as a fundraiser for the Stutsman County Relay for Life. Organizer and event founder Mayda Mueller was ecstatic about the event’s turnout.

Event facilitators report that 406 participants had registered for the prom-like event. Couples registered, were pinned with handmade corsages and then walked across the stage in the grand march. Spectators paid a dollar to watch the parade and take pictures before the first dance. Luminaries were also sold during the dance. Final dollars raised will be announced at a later date.

Mueller reports that they raised $4,327 after expenses, all of which will be donated to Relay for Life.

“We had so much fun,” Mueller stated. “We had people come from Bismarck and even Minneapolis for the dance.”
