VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Like many other teams across the state The Valley City softball team is trying to get through the winter conditions that have delayed to the start of the 2018 season.

Practices were indoors weeks before the opener against Devils Lake originally set for last Tuesday. Both scheduled games this week have been moved back with next week’s games up in the air and practices remaining indoors with facilities being shared with other snowed in spring sports.

Expectations are high this season with all but 3 players returning from last year’s team that finished 6th at state. The goal of building on that success adds to the frustration felt by the team. Head coach Jason Lindgren has put the onus on his senior to keep everyone pushing through the situation

Valley City relied on strong second halfs to help them make state tournament runs the last 2 season. There is a possibly that more winter weather will cause a condensed schedule, senior McKenna Taylor says the team will need to be ready to play their best ball right away

Right now Valley City has Davies at home scheduled for next Tuesday with West Fargo on Friday.
