JAMESTOWN, N.D. (JRMC) – Montana-Dakota Utilities Company (MDU) recently donated 2,500 dollars to help Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) purchase the “FAST” bedside ultrasound for their emergency department.

Lisa Jackson, JRMC Foundation Director said, “Every gift to Jamestown Regional Medical Center counts. We use these gifts to help improve the quality of care for more than 55,000 people in our region.”

The “FAST” bedside ultrasound helps to save lives by rapidly identifying internal bleeding within trauma patients. In addition, the ultrasound machine may be used to help diagnose other medical conditions.

RMC aims to offer its patients the best, cost-effective care and continue to keep services local. The “FAST” bedside ultrasound machine is just another way JRMC seeks to be one of the best rural hospitals to the area. The emergency department cares for time-sensitive conditions. Nearly 9,000 patients seek care through its emergency department, a level IV trauma center, each year for trauma and emergencies.

Level IV trauma center means an advanced-trauma, life support-certified physician and nursing team are available.

“JRMC is a leader in medical technology. It’s only fitting that we should employ innovative technological solutions to care for our facility,” said K.C. DeBoer, JRMC CEO.

JRMC has brought in new providers in the fields of emergency and surgical care, women’s health, urology and Ear, Nose and Throat. They have made a promise to provide the community with cancer care. Currently, JRMC has the funds to build its cancer center, but are in the process of recruiting an oncologist to begin chemotherapy infusions. For now, cancer patients are able to receive infusions in its emergency department.
