VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – With two matches under their belt, the Valley City Hi-Liner tennis team has the season off and running. The Hi-Liners lost to Grand Forks Red River and beat Fargo South.

The numbers are high when it comes to players. Head Coach Matt Nielsen says the Hi-Liners are one of the biggest high school teams in the state:

With five seniors on the team, experience is a big strength of the 2018 team. Coach Nielsen says another strength of this team is how they play the game and the high tennis IQ they have.

The seniors are Reagan Ingstad, Hannah Aberle, Hannah Dockter,  Angela Larson and Kayla Triebold. The Hi-Liners have reached the State Tournament in five straight seasons, and Nielsen says if they are going to make it an even half dozen, they will need to do more that just show up.

Next up for Valley City, they host Wahpeton tonight at 7pm and at travel to West Fargo on Thursday.
