NEW ROCKFORD, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)  Both baseball fields in Carrington and Steele are still to wet to play on this spring due to the extended winter, but the field in New Rockford was ready and dry enough for baseball. With both teams in agreement, they decided to play on a neutral field Tuesday afternoon to get some Region baseball games played in the shortened season. Carrington scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back as they pick up their first victory so far this season, 17-2 in five innings over the Wolves of Kidder County. Carrington is now 1-0 in Region 3, 1-2 overall, KC drops to 0-1 in Region 3 and 0-2 overall.

Kyle Leapaldt worked four innings for the win, Jayden Shipman worked an inning of relief. Ty Biesterfeld suffered the loss working the first inning and second inning, but didn’t retire anybody in the second, Colton Jangula and Taren Schmidt worked in relief for the Wolves.

At the plate for Carrington, Senior Jayden Shipman was 3-for-4 with three singles and scored three runs.  Leapaldt had a two-run triple in the fourth inning and Lucas Geiszler added an RBI double.  Seth Nelson and Hunter Mittleider had two RBI’s each as well.
