JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Kiwanis is asking the community to kick off spring with a tasty tradition.

In 2017, Jamestown Kiwanis packaged 100,000 meals, helped clean a summer camp, donated school supplies and delivered more than 25 gifts to families in need at Christmas.

To finance these projects and others, Jamestown Kiwanis holds its annual fundraiser, the Kiwanis Pancake Day, once a year. The club raised about $11,000 in 2017 and hopes to do the same in 2018.

“Kids need Kiwanis,” said Jamestown Kiwanis President Jason Grueble. “And Kiwanis needs the community’s support.”

Thanks to support from Hugo’s Family Marketplace, all Pancake Day proceeds go back to the community, said Eric Tuchscher, Kiwanis member and Pancake Day chair.

This year’s Pancake Day is set for 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, May 7 at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for children, $22 for family and preschool and under are free. If purchased in advance, bulk tickets are available for as little as $4 per person.

“Our mission is kids, so it feels good to give that money to organizations that serve children,” Tuchscher said.

Other projects Kiwanis help includes:
purchasing snacks and hygiene products for the homeless in Jamestown
providing scholarships to Jamestown High School students
delivering Meals on Wheels
cleaning Camp Rokiwan (with the help of Jamestown Rotary)
