JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Community members have planned a candlelight vigil for Nicole Gututala-Hoff Saturday, May 19th at McElroy Park.

The vigil was originally planned for Thursday, May 17th but was postponed. Individuals who participate are asked to wear red to the vigil. There will also be a memorial service at 6 PM Friday at First Baptist Church in Jamestown.

A GoFundMe page created by Gututala-Hoff’s Uncle has raised nearly $12,000 to send her body and kids back to Hawaii.

“Nicole was, is a beautiful person inside and out,” states Talima Gututala. “What happened to her should never happen to any woman, mother, or family member.”

Talima says they are overwhelmed by the support the GoFundMe has received.

“We are grateful and humbled by the outpouring of love and generosity from the people that knew her, worked with her, that was a part of her life in big and small ways in Jamestown, we are also grateful for the people that didn’t know Nicole personally but who wanted to help out of the kindness of their hearts.”

Any funds over the requested amount will be donated to Nicole’s mother and support her children.

Gutuala-Hoff was murdered on May 12th when she was shot and killed by her ex-husband Kevin Michael Hoff. Hoff is currently facing a AA felony of murder and is being held on $500,000 bond. He could face up to life in prison if found guilty.
