WILLISTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Noah Gerhardt fired a three-hit shutout and Mandan knocked off Jamestown in the West Region quarterfinals, 3-0 on Thursday afternoon.

Jamestown fell behind early when Mandan tacked on three runs in the second inning aided by an error that kept the inning alive. The Braves drove in two runs on a bases loaded single that bled through the right side of the infield.

Two more unearned runs came in the fifth inning when left fielder Aaron Kleven dropped a fly ball with two outs. So in total, Mandan got four unearned runs against Jays starter Dawson Douty who gave up six hits while striking out three, walking three and two hit batters.

Jamestown never got anything going against Gerhardt who allowed just three hits. Issac Mimong lead off the seventh with a double, but Jamestown couldn’t move him any further than third base.

The Jays will fall to a loser-out game against Bismarck High at 11am on Friday morning. The game can be heard on Q101 (101.1 FM).
