JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Ongoing renovations and restoration has been happening at the historic 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse.

First opened to the public for tours in 2017, the courthouse is ready for the 2018 summer season. Steve Reidburn is the Site Supervisor for state’s oldest, standing courthouse.

Reidburn works for the State Historical Society of North Dakota, watching over the site, giving tours and retelling the history of the courthouse. The importance of the courthouse continues to be a driving reason for maintaining the building.

Beginning May 25th and continuing through the summer, the courthouse will once again open their doors for tours and events. Reidburn says they have planned three music performances in June, July, and August as well. Tours are free, but Reidburn says as renovations continue, the need for funding is also present. He points out that any amount would help them achieve their fundraising goals.
