WEST FARGO, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Eliza Johnson drove in Courtney Lloyd with a bunt base hit in the bottom of the 6th inning that put Valley City ahead of Fargo Davies 11-1 ending the game early while clinching them a spot in The EDC title game and trip to the state tournament.

Hi-Liner pitching kept The Eagles at bay. Starter Becca Thompson was perfect the first time through the order. She allowed her first hit and Davies’ lone run in the 4th.

In the 6th Hailey Schaefer was brought in to get out of bases loaded no out situation. She struck out the side to get out of the inning unscathed. Schaefer said the tension of coming into the game helped her focus

 

Thompson surrendered 4 hits and walk with 4 strike outs in her win, she also hit her 3rd home run of the tournament and drove in 2. Collecting 2 hits in the game were Grace Scherr, Kacee White and Lexi Odracek.

Carly Kottsick went 2 for 3 to lead Davies. Kylie Venterose had an RBI.

Valley City now gets a chance to avenge their first loss of the season when they meet Fargo North in The EDC Championship Game. The Spartans used a 5 run 5th inning to upset top seeded West Fargo 6-3. First pitch is set for around 3pm, pregame in 10 minutes prior on KOVC 1490 AM-96.3 FM and NewsDakota.com

State Qualifier: Grand Forks Red River vs. West Fargo- 11am

State Qualifier: WF Sheyenne vs. Fargo Davies- 1pm

Championship Game: Fargo North vs. Valley City – 3pm
