ENDERLIN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Lead by a pair of home runs and solid pitching, the Oakes Post 36 American Legion baseball team shined in their season opener with a 12-2 six inning victory Wednesday night against Enderlin Post 221.

Oakes’ two home runs came from Izaiah Hoelscher in the first inning and from TJ Johnson in the fourth.

Taylor Schall was just as impressive on the mound in the victory, going all six, with nine strikeouts and no walks.

Dakota Mark took the loss for the Railcats (0-1 Class B Southeast Region) lasting just four and a third innings, allowing eight earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts.

Post 36 (1-0) welcomes LaMoure Post 19 to Cummings Field Thursday night, with coverage starting around 6:50 p.m. and first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. on The Tornado KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com.

Enderlin visits Ellendale Post 137 Thursday night.
