OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- An eight run first inning gave the LaMoure Post 19 American Legion baseball team a 1-0 start in Class B Southeast Region play en route to a 14-7 victory over Oakes Post 36 Thursday night.

Post 19 (1-0) chased Oakes’ Tyler Voightman out of the game after just two-thirds of an inning. The Post 36 defense also committed three errors in the inning, as LaMoure sent 13 players to bat, including Alex Klever twice; who had a double, a single and two runs scored. Jacob Ulmer earned the win, going five innings with seven strikeouts

Oakes (1-1) had a double, two singles and three runs scored from Adam Neustal.

LaMoure travels to Fairmount-Hankinson-Lidgerwood Monday. Oakes hosts Ellendale Thursday.
