VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Casselton scored 3 run in the top of the 6th to regain their lead over Valley City, Post 60 responded right back with a 4 run bottom half the inning and set down The Haymakers in order in the 7th to win 8-6. The victory brings their record to 2-1 in region play.

In the 5 inning non-region game Casselton plated 4 runs in the 4th to win 7-2. Valley City plays again Tuesday at Devils Lake.

Game 1: Valley City 8 vs. Casselton 6

After falling behind in the top of the 6th, Valley City sent 6 batters to the plate before Casselton could record an out with 4 runs coming across to put Post 60 ahead.

Avery Bennefeld and Easton Hesch both had 2 hit 2 RBI games. Riley Miller went 2 for 3 with 2 runs. Andrew Janke and Jordan Meehl each plated 2 runs for Casselton.

Neither starter factored into the game. Mitchel Taylor for Post 60 went 5 1/3 striking out 4 while Casselton’s Brady Robinson lasted 5 innings with allowing 3 hits with 4 Ks. Easton Hesch worked the final 1 1/3 innings to earn the win.

Game 2: Casselton 7 vs. Valley City 2 (5 innings)

Casselton broke the game open with 4 runs in the 4th to win the non-region game. The Haymakers had 4 hits and were aided by some Post 60 errors. Riley Bjork and Grady Kargas had RBIs for Post 60.

Bjork took the loss pitching 4 innings.
