Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—–The Carrington Legion baseball (Post 25) team picked up a 12-4 Central Region win over the visiting Black Sox from New Rockford. The Black Sox (Post 30) got off to a great start scoring 3 runs in the top of the first inning, aided by 3 hits, including a 2 run double from Seth Soderholm (3-3, 2RBI, run, BB), and an RBI single from Luke Ystaas.  The Black Sox hot start was erased the rest of the night on the defensive side allowing 12 unearned runs to the host team, committing 9 errors in the game. Post 25 took the lead in the third inning scoring 5 unearned runs on just 2 hits, 3 walks, and 2 Black Sox errors. Trey Rosenau and Kyle Leapaldt delivered RBI hits, Rosenau’s a double. Payton Smith (2-3, 3 runs, RBI, SB) would score an unearned run in the 4th inning to give Post 25  a 6-3 lead. Six more unearned runs for Carrington in the 5th inning blew the game wide open. Post 25 had just 1 hit in the frame that was fueled by 5 Black Sox errors and a pair of walks. Carrington finished with just 5 hits in the game, Post 30 finished with 8 hits. Jayden Shipman picked up the win on the mound for Carrington allowing 3 earned runs, 8 hits, walked 3 batters, hit 2 batters, and struck out 8 batters. Bo Belquist (2-3, run) took the loss for the Black Sox. Belquist allowed 8 unearned runs, 4 hits, 5 walks, and had 4 strikeouts. Carrington improved to 3-2 overall and also 3-2 in Central Region play, the Black Sox dropped to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in Central Region play. Carrington will travel to Gardner (Northern Cass High School) on Wednesday for a Central Region doubleheader starting at 5:00 P.M.
