Arthur, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—–The Carrington Legion baseball picked up a pair of Central Region victories over the Gardner Express (Post 132), 6-0, and 8-0. Kyle Leapaldt threw a 3 hit shutout in the first game, including 13 strikeouts. Leapaldt retired 12 out of the first 13 batters he faced, allowing a hit batter to start the third inning for Post 132 only base runner until the fifth inning. Trey Rosenau (2-4, run) and Seth Nelson (2-3, RBI, run, BB) were the only Post 25 batters with multiple hits in the game. Carrington scored 2 runs in the top of the first and 2 runs in the 6th inning to cap off the 6-0 win.

Jayden Shipman hurled a 1 hit shutout in game 2 of the doubleheader, and recorded 15 strikeouts in the 8-0 win. Gardner threatened to score in the 4th inning after Shipman retired the first 9 batters he faced. Colin Conteh singled to start the inning (only hit of the game), and that was followed by Carrington’s only error of the game when Jack Metzger reached on a throwing error that ended up in right field putting runners at second and third base with no outs. Shipman struck out the next 2 batters and a softly hit comebacker to the mound for the third out and the Express stranded both runners (only 2 base runners in the game).
