Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—-The Carrington American Legion baseball team (Post 25) picked up 2 wins on Saturday, 3-0 over Hatton-Northwood and 3-1 over Kidder County.

Post 25 continued it’s hot streak on the mound as Zach Johnson threw a complete game 2 hit shutout over Hatton-Northwood (HN). It was Carrington’s 3rd straight shutout. Johnson allowed just 2 singles, 1 BB, hit 1 batter, and struck out 2 batters to pickup the win. Post 25 did just enough offensively, scoring all 3 runs in there first two at bats. Jayden Shipman went 2-3 and drove in all 3 Carrington runs with a 2 run single in the first and an RBI single in the third. Kyle Leapaldt went 2-2, scored 2 runs, had 2 stolen bases, and also reached on a BB. Payton Smith had the other Post 25 hit, going 1-3 with 1 run scored. Jayce Nelson took the mound loss for HN, allowing 3 earned runs, 5 hits, 2 BB, and 2 strikeouts.

Carrington scored all 3 of their runs in the first inning and defeated Kidder County (KC) 3-1. Shipman went 2-3 with a run scoring double in the first inning and later scored on a wild pitch. Smith went 2-2, was walked once, scored 1 run, and added a stolen base. Lucas Geiszler went 1-2 with a walk and had 1 RBI. Cody Homes pitched a complete game allowing 1 earned run in the fifth inning. Homes picked up 5 strikeouts, also walked 5 batters. Post 25 turned in a pair of double plays and also picked off 2 KC base runners. Leapaldt threw out KC starting pitcher Kamen Schmidt 2 times at first base, once in the first inning after leading off the game with a walk and again in the fifth inning to end Post 231 scoring threat. KC had 2 hits and 2 walks in the fifth, but a double play and the pickoff allowed just 1 run to score. Schmidt took the loss, allowing 3 earned runs, 4 hits, 2 BB, and 2 strikeouts. Carrington is scheduled for a pair of Central Region doubleheaders on Monday and Tuesday at thr Carrington City Park. Monday versus Harwood and Tuesday versus Fargo Post 400. All four games will be broadcast on AM 1600 KDAK (The Cardinal) and newsdakota.com Carrington improved to 7-2 overall and 5-2 in Central Region play. KC dropped to 5-9 overall and 3-2 in SE Region play.
